JOB ADVERTISEMENT FOR PART-TIME MINISTER OF MUSIC                                  (15-20 HOURS/WEEK)

 Salary – $11k-$15k (based on experience)

 

 Purpose

  The Minister of Music plays a vital role in leading primarily blended worship, assisting in overseeing vocal     and instrumental aspects. This position involves a dynamic combination of musical, technical, and     administrative responsibilities to ensure the effective execution of the worship ministry vision.

 NOTE: The terms of employment (pay and hours) are negotiable based on the qualifications and needs of     the ideal candidate, as well as the potential ability for long term employment.

 Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and evaluate a comprehensive music program that blends contemporary and traditional music that engages the congregation.
  • Work in consultation with the Senior Pastor to plan the Sunday worship and special services to ensure appropriate congregational and special music that enhances and supports the worship message and experience.
  • Lead and direct the congregational music at regular and special worship
  • Lead, train and direct the Choir in worship and special services, which includes preparing for and rehearsing the Choir, recruiting new members and providing spiritual nurture.
  • Work with the Youth and Children’s Leader to create opportunities for young people in our services.
  • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers to lead, assist or provide instrumental accompaniment for music programs.
  • Organize and supervise an instrumental music program, including but not limited to, hand bells and other instruments.
  • Encourage and recruit members of the congregation of all ages to offer their musical talents to the church, individually and/or in organized music
  • Work with the Audio/Visual Team to produce the best possible sound product and video recording capabilities.
  • Seek opportunities for church music groups to perform in the community, including church planned outreach or service programs and activities of local communities or organizations.
  • Serve as a resource for church members on music for weddings, funerals, memorial services and special recognitions. Prepare and recommend an annual music ministry budget to the Budget and Finance Committee.
  • Manage the music ministry budget as approved and submit required reports, estimates and requests according to relevant church policies and by specified deadlines to Council.
  • Select and purchase all needed music, equipment and supplies according to the music budget and relevant church policies.
  • Supervise the use and maintenance of the music, equipment and supplies, such as the music library, musical instruments, choir robes, and hymnals.
  • Serve as a member of the Church Council to coordinate all music activities, projects, and  programs with other church organizations and emphases and to place music ministry activities on the   church calendar.

 

 Qualifications

 Our Minister of Music must have an ongoing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and desire to see   others come to know the Lord through worship, classes, etc.

 

 Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Proven experience in leading worship in both traditional and modern styles
  • Agreement with Pleasant Hill Baptist Church’s doctrinal statement, vision, mission, and values
  • Proficient in leading both traditional and modern worship styles, vocally and instrumentally
  • Experience with church production/technical systems and software preferred (e.g., audio desks, lighting consoles, Mediashout, Planning Center Online, Microsoft Office, Apple, etc.)
